A Message of Gratitude
Dear NYSALAS Familia,
Reflecting on our 5th Annual Scholarship Gala and 6th Annual Leadership Conference
Thank you for making our event an inspiring and memorable experience. Over two incredible days in the Bronx, our NYSALAS familia came together to celebrate, learn, connect, and reaffirm our collective commitment to students, families, and communities across New York State.
This year’s theme, "Leading with Purpose: Commitment, Clarity, and Collective Impact," was reflected throughout every keynote, panel, workshop, and conversation. We were honored to recognize Dr. Betty A. Rosa, Commissioner of Education and President of the University of the State of New York, for her extraordinary leadership and unwavering advocacy for our communities. We also proudly celebrated Dr. David Mauricio, Superintendent of Peekskill City School District, founding member and Past President of NYSALAS, whose more than 25 years of service and leadership have left a lasting impact on public education across New York State.
We were equally proud to celebrate the 19 recipients of the 2026 WE SOAR Future Bilingual Educator Scholarship. These remarkable students represent the promise of our future and the continued strength of our communities.
The Presidents’ Leadership Panel and Women’s Panel sparked meaningful dialogue while uplifting the resilience, brilliance, and impact of Latino leaders in education. Attendees also engaged in dynamic workshops and presentations that promoted collaboration, innovation, reflection, and professional growth.
We extend our gratitude to Dr. Miguel A. Cardona, 13th United States Secretary of Education, and Carolyne Quintana, CEO of Teaching Matters, whose powerful keynote messages inspired us to continue leading with courage, purpose, and vision as we #StayTheCourse together.
